    Responsibilities

    Our Construction Equipment (CE) Group is seeking a full-time product support operations manager for our Ottawa, IL branch. The product support operations manager will be responsible for the Parts and Service departments. This position's ultimate priority is to ensure our field service is growing, becoming legendary, and attending to our customers on a daily basis. This position will report to the vice president of product support.

     

    The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:

    • Oversee all aspects of the Parts and Service departments for the branch and ensure they are profitable and providing a great customer experience.
    • P&L of both Parts and Service departments.
    • Manage work loads and customer satisfaction.
    • WIP control and invoicing.
    • Ensure field service trucks are in good working order through communication with the technicians.
    • Work with the service manager and assist in customer issues and field calls.
    • Ensure that work orders are continuously being closed.
    • Monitor staffing levels and that jobs are being completed properly in a timely manner.
    • Ensure the teams are continuously closing work orders daily, we meet or exceed our monthly budgets, and we obtain the specified margins for each department monthly.
    • Work with the Parts department and lead them to ensure our parts are ordered and delivered in a timely manner to both our customers and Service departments.
    • Team with the Parts department to ensure our stock order is accurate and efficiently stocked.
    • Work with the parts managers and counter specialists to ensure we are selling parts and taking care of all our customers parts needs.
    • Partner with the director of product support and human resources on all employee relations.
    • Monitor building condition and maintenance.
    • Inventory control and organization.
    • Ensure we have a safe working environment.
    • Expected to work with the Sales and Rental departments in a friendly and professional manner.
    • Incorporate Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time.

    Qualifications

    Desired Skills and Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 4-6 years of management experience is required with preferential treatment to those who have managed at an equipment dealership.
    • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
    • Ability to effectively manage others.
    • Time management skills.
    • Organization skills.
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Computer Skills - ERP Systems, Sage Quest, Crystal Reports, PayTrace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    • Mathematical Skills - Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
    • Reasoning Ability - High: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Physical Demands/Work Environment:
    • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will talk/hear; Frequently will stand, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms; Occasionally will walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. taste/smell
    • Vision: No special vision requirements
    • Lift and/or Move Functions: Frequently will lift up to 10 pounds; Occasionally will lift up to 100 pounds
    • Work Environment: Occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
