Our construction equipment group is seeking a full-time heavy equipment shop service diesel technician / mechanic with the classification of Shop Technician 3 for our Detroit, MI branch. This is a union position and will be part of Operating Engineers Local 324.
A Shop Technician 3 is qualified to successfully, efficiently, and accurately perform the cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, removal, installation with the help of proper manuals, disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, reconditioning, ordering the correct parts, and report writing; as well as the measuring, adjusting, diagnosing, testing, troubleshooting and equipment failure analysis requirements of their assigned service department or specialized area with some supervision on the majority of equipment the Company sells. Also, a Shop Technician 3 may be asked to perform minor welding and fabricating repairs. Should be familiar with basic machine systems and is expected to be knowledgeable of all parts and service software. Should meet or exceed quoted labor of repairs related to this level with some rework and overage.
