Our Construction Equipment Group is seeking a full-time Regional Rental Service Manager for our Gary, IN location. The  Rental Service Manager will oversee all aspects of the service department.. The primary responsibilities of the position consist of, but are not limited to:


  • Coordinate with Branch Operation Managers and Service Managers daily.
  • Assist all Service Manager in Driving consistency within Rental Technician Operations.
  • Rental Equipment – “Change of Condition” (Customer Damage Management.)
  • Receive notification from Branch Service managers
  • Compile a complete file to send to Sales/Customer.
    • Quote from Service Manager.
    • Traffic Pictures in/out/in.
    • Executed RSA.
    • Review write-up on quotation.
    • Terms and Conditions.
    • Customer acknowledgement.
    • All documentation within 24 hours for sales and customer review.
    • Work with all coordinators to ensure that SWO is billed out on RSA.
    • Manage Rental WIP, in conjunction with Laurie
    • Manage Rental Warranty
  • Review TECH stories to ensure they are scripted to help expedite Warranty Claims along with Goodwill and work with warranty team.
  • Create positive relationship with all OEMs
    • Assist in Rental TECH Management.
  • Work with Operational teams to maximize TECH efficiency.
    • Asset Management.
  • CAP Cost – ensure that we are reviewing and following Alta Equipment CAP Guidelines and all Governmental Lawful Regulations.
  • Working with Inventory team on life cycle cost on equipment.
  • Working with Director of Fleet Management and Director of Rental Operation to mitigate assets that exposes Alta to high-risk cost impacts.
  • Implement a refresh program.  (Painting ect)
    • Maintain ongoing maintenance schedules for Rental Assets.
    • Maintain open and positive communication (both in verbal and written form) with employees, departments, customers, and vendors
    • Assist in Maintain appropriate staffing level and workload distribution to meet Rental business needs
  • Consistent, regular, and reliable attendance including being ready for work at the designated start time


Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of management experience
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Heavy equipment or material handling experience is preferred
  • Ability to effectively manage others
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Great computer skills
  • Computer Skills - ERP systems, PayTrace, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Language Skills - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Intermediate: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability - High: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Physical/Sensory Functions: Regularly will sit, use hands, talk/hear; Occasionally will stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste/smell.
  • Vision Requirements: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)
  • Lift and/or Move Functions: Occasionally up to 25 pounds
  • Work Environment: Occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions
